the sussex arts collective was formed in 2006 by founding member phil duncan. their
inaugural exhibition was at the old fishing quarter gallery, kingsway, brighton.

we are a group of like minded artists and craftspeople who work and live in the sussex area
and have exhibited together over a number of years. we represent a wide range of art and
craft disciplines: fine art painting, printing, glass, ceramics, textiles, wood, sculpture,
photography, jewellery and graphic arts.

amongst our growing numbers there are well established as well as emerging practitioners;
professional and semi-professional. visit the artists and archive pages to see a full list of
artists/craftspeople who are currently exhibiting with us as well as those who have taken
part in shows in the past.

  what we do
upnext

we are building mutually beneficial networks with other local artists and craftspeople
and we provide opportunities for members to exhibit at professional venues by sharing
costs. Shared costs enable us to sell work at prices which are highly accessible to a wider
buying public.

Many of our members have benefitted from connections with other artists and art and
craft groups which have enabled them to exhibit widely across the south east of England.

This website is a recent innovation that will provide part-time and newly started
artist/craftspeople with an economical and trouble free marketing tool. A three
page entry on this site can cost as little as £45 a year
.
For those more established members it provides additional coverage and links to their
previously launched websites raises their profile on the web. want to know more?

Visit the comprehensive links page to view and contact artists/craftspeople,
galleries and artisans connected with the Sussex Arts Collective.

We will keep you up date with events via our website and we will send you invitations to
exhibtions and shows that we organise or take part in.

      'new decos'?
upnext necklace

eighty five years ago artists and designers were inspired by the emerging modern world
of machines and technology. Their legacy was to create a distinctive and luxuriant style of art
and design we now know as art deco. widely sort after it had universal appeal worldwide albeit
by the wealthy and knowledgable.

since then quality artwork has become much more readily available and we have become
considerably more well-informed about good taste and style. subsequently we have the
means to buy for our homes original pieces of art and craft work of genuine quality.

the sussex arts collective believe they represent this shift in a more egalitarian approach
to selling and buying art and craft work and hope their exhibtions reflect the diversity and
range of work which is now on offer to the wider art buying community.
