Annual visual arts festival held in the Lewes area in East Sussex between
the August bank holiday and the end of September. Run by the local
district town council they promote the work of artists in the area by holding
visual art competitions, artist Open House events and gallery exhibitions.

The main Open Houses Festival takes place over the first four weekends in
May, during the Brighton Festival.
More than 1,000 artists exhibit their work at over 200 venues, spread
across the city of Brighton and Hove and the surrounding area. This is
the biggest event of its kind in the country and has been running since
Ned Hoskins first opened his house to the public in 1982.
In 2010, the festival dates will be May 1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th, 15th, 16th,
22nd and 23rd.

The Eastbourne Festival will offer a broad programme of traditional,
contemporary and experimental visual arts, music, literature, dance,
comedy, film and performance events. Comnfirmed events include a
Marshmellow Night Art Trail, a series of lunchtime concerts at
Eastbourne Parish Church, a concert by Eastbourne Symphony
Orchestra, Magic Mandolins, Community Workshops organised by
Catalyst Arts, events at The Lamb Inn, a week of Youth events and
events at Towner, Theatres and the Redoubt amongst many others.

The Gallery, a converted forge, adjoins a row of 15th century cottages in
the beautiful West Sussex village of Walberton.
Visitors will discover original works of high quality, art, ceramics, textiles,
glassware, turned wood, sculpture and metalwork, art cards and unique,
hand-crafted jewellery.

under new management as HOP GALLERY, it has undergone refurbishment,

Established in December 1992, the gallery offers a diverse range of quality
two and three dimensional work by leading makers based in the UK and
some also from the continent.
Over 60 makers are represented at any one time: ceramics, wood, prints
and etchings, jewellery, metalwork, textiles, glass, furniture and photography
are all exhibited, and a commisssioning service is also available.
The gallery has been selected to offer the Arts Council's "OwnArt" interest
free art purchasing scheme. Details of the scheme and its benefits can be
obtained from the gallery. A welcoming and comfortable environment, the
gallery hosts a minimum of two shows annually.

Stark Gallery represents a wide variety of original artwork and British craft.
Changing exhibits in the three gallery spaces offer a changing selection
of styles and mediums, from modern abstracts to traditional landscapes
